Welcome to Friends of Rathaspeck Church
Rathaspeck church is on an ancient ecclesiastical site, dating from the early years of Christianity in the 5th century. The bishops lived here as the place name suggests and a large supporting community lived surrounding it. The Martyrology of Donegal (Calendar of the saints of Ireland) mentions Aed Glas and Aonghus, two bishops who lived there. It’s probable that it was a pagan site site of devotion before the arrival of Christianity.
